Guidepoint Sees Double Digit Growth in Mexico By Investing in Theft Recovery Systems

Guidepoint Systems has seen double-digit growth in sales and number of customers in Mexico during the three years, largely due to the company’s commitment of resources to effective theft recovery of vehicles, emergency roadside assistance and other services.

“Our customers are recognizing that Guidepoint is willing to do whatever it takes to provide top notch service here,” said Abraham Juarez, manager of the company’s call center and administrative offices in Guadalajara that employs about 30 people. “We’ve got a call center that is manned 24/7/365, a staff of our own lawyers who are versed in this country’s legal system and a nationwide network of technicians who are trained in proper installation of our products.

“While that’s a considerable commitment of resources, it’s money well spent to build our reputation in Mexico as a leading provider of services such as stolen vehicle recovery, emergency roadside assistance, fleet management and vehicle tracking.”

Guidepoint integrates information from global positioning satellites (GPS), wireless data transmitted by the vehicles, the Internet and the personnel at its Guadalajara response center to provide fast response to theft, emergencies and fleet management.

Customers of Guidepoint services range from individuals who want additional peace of mind for theft recovery and personal safety to auto dealerships that can cut costs and improve operational efficiencies with management of floor plans, parts delivery and rental cars. Finance companies use Guidepoint systems to reduce potential losses from borrowers who default on their loans.

Either through its own brand or private labels such as Mopar EVTS and Nissan VTRS, Guidepoint provides hardware and software solutions to dealers of Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Lexus, Lincoln, Mercedes, Mercury, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Toyota and other vehicle brands.

“Guidepoint is offering an affordable and comprehensive solution to the growing problem of vehicle theft in Mexico,” Juarez said. “Many people don’t realize that recovering the vehicle is but one important step in the process.  Car owners also have to prove ownership after the vehicle is found. For that, we employ a team of lawyers who are experienced in providing the documents required by Mexican law enforcement and the courts.”

According to statistics compiled by the Asociación Mexicana de Instituciones de Seguros (AMIS), vehicle theft and carjacking where the vehicles are stolen by force or threat have both been on the rise. The insurance trade organization said that overall thefts of insured vehicles increased about 31 percent in March 2017 compared with February 2016. Incidents from carjackings rose about 26 percent from 2015 to 2016, with about 80 percent of those crimes occurring in just 9 of Mexico’s 32 states.

Juarez said Guidepoint works closely with the Asociación Nacional de Empresas de Rastreo y Protección Vehicular (ANERPV) organization to help fund stolen vehicle recovery efforts in Mexico by law enforcement agencies.
