Fast Action Leads to Rapid Vehicle Recovery

You know how it goes – you meet someone new through a work or personal friend and they inevitably ask you, “so, what does Guidepoint Systems do?” You respond by telling them that we’re a telematics company that uses GPS data to provide vehicle location and specific driving behavior data in real time to our customers about their car. But if you strip away the data and tech talk what we really are is a software company that delivers outstanding customer service.

Recently, that customer service was on full display. A Chicago area auto dealership that uses Guidepoint Systems discovered that two vehicles, valued at more than $150,000, were missing from their lot. Instead of contacting our 24/7 call center, the dealership reached out to Craig Hitchcock, who has provided excellent customer service to them over the years. Craig took charge, working with the dealership and local police to locate both vehicles within a short time. Fortunately, both vehicles had been equipped with our Stolen Vehicle Locator system, which was programmed to send data to our network every 20 seconds. Police quickly recovered both vehicles and apprehended the car thieves. Craig’s quick action helped the dealership recover the two vehicles and likely saved them some insurance paperwork and financial hardship.

I talked with Craig as the recovery operation got under way. He told me, “It's awesome to be able to help a customer use our system to accurately identify where a vehicle is and get it recovered in short order.”

When Sam Spencer and I talked about this incident, he expressed a sense of pride in our service and our products. He said, “We all know that helping to recover stolen vehicles is just one aspect of our overall business, but Craig’s customer service combined with our vehicle tracking program really delivered for this client, saving them a lot of time and money and that’s what matters most.”
 Sam’s point is dead on – our most innovative technology is only meaningful if we also deliver outstanding customer service that helps our clients. No telematics company is better at delivering both than us. Hats off to Craig for his quick response and tremendous customer service. It’s the personal attention to our work that sets us apart.
